Iris Velazquez is a Senior, graduating Fall 2020 at California State University, Long Beach. She is studying Business Management and Supply Chain Management. She is currently a Director of The Regional Hispanic Youth Council here at RHCC and The RHI. She manages the procurement department and serves as an ambassador with the student community at CSULB. As for her main role, she engages with the business and student community by putting in place several events during the year such as the Lideres Mentorship Program, Southern California Business Development Conference, and the Energy and Transportation Forums. “Being an active member in various leadership positions has helped me grow in my professional development and in my soft skills to land various offers in internships. Having internship experience has given me a foot in the door on how corporate America works. Additionally, being a leader has given me the opportunity to cultivate other young professionals to become leaders.” After college, she or he hopes to land a full-time offer in her internship at Southern California Edison as a Procurement agent. In the future, she hopes to get more experience in the logistics field and move her way up to become part of the upper management and lead in projects.
